Rodin Museum
77 Rue de Varenne
75007 Paris
The house was originally built as a private property, the Hôtel Biron, and eventually, after passing through a variety of hands, was acquired by the French Government in 1905. Rodin rented the ground floor from 1908 and soon determined to turn the Hôtel Biron into a museum for his work. In 1916 Rodin donated his collections, archives, his property in Meudon and his sculptures and drawings with their reproduction rights to the Government. The museum finally officially opened on 4 August 1919, by which time Rodin himself had died. The msueum contains much of Rodin's work as well as pieces by other artists from his own personal collection.
