Description: A large ceramic sculpted lion is seated on the apex of this building above the corner and entrance. Two facades, one on Market Street and one on Wellington Street, are faced with ceramic faience tiles. In sections of each facade, above 2nd floor windows, there is a ceramic male or female head in scrollwork set on ribbed pilasters. In the centre of each facade there is a bowed section; there are two gryphons protruding on each facade at this point from above the windows at second floor level.

Inscription: Above the entrance at the corner of this building there is an ornate panel made from complex scrolled faience tiles: BARNSLEY BRITISH CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY Ltd
