Description: A plain shield set in a plain niche in the exterior wall facing the park gates. On the shield is a falcon holding a lock in its talons, beneath this the ornate letters: "JL".

Comment: Also on the gatehouse is a clock which was modernised in August 1969 by his sister as a memorial to Cllr H. Burgin, Chairman of the Parks Committee for 24 years.
