Description: Two columns either side of road access to Doncaster Markets. On one stands a sheep, on the other a pig. A beam joins the tops of the two columns which are clad in terracotta tiles.

Commission: Part of Phase 5 of the Quality Streets Scheme.

Comment: Created " ... to mark the site of one of the entrances into the town in the old, and no longer marked, town ditch. The sheep and pig are used to represent the links between the sale of animals and Doncaster market ... " [1] "A weigh-beam, which along with the animals will symbolise the town's market traditions, has already been installed to link the two columns which stand on either side of the road." [2]
