Comment: The Phoenix Works used to be on this site. By the time that the giant Templeborough Works were constructed the name of the parent company had changed, however the company magazine was still called The Phoenix Gazette. The concept of something being born from the fire was thought to be very appropriate for the redevelopment of the area.
There is no plaque onsite with information on this piece.
A painted mural also showing the birth of a Phoenix is to be found on the adjacent retaining wall of Bessemer Way.
