Heeley Retail Park, Chesterfield Road, Sheffield S8. Entrance to the site is opposite Beeton Road. (A-Z p.110 2D)

Description:
Elements of machinery cast in bronze and encased in an open stainless steel column. Ht: c. 5m. Diameter at base c. 1.3m.

Commission:
GUD Pension Trust with J.F.Finnegan.

Comment:
An onsite plaque at the base of the column reads:
‘HEELEY SIDINGS
BY MIKE JOHNSON
THIS SCULPTURE WAS COMMISSIONED BY
GUD PENSION TRUST IN CONJUNCTION
WITH J.F.FINNEGAN LTD. AS PART OF
SHEFFIELD CITY COUNCIL’S PER CENT
FOR ARTS POLICY
THE WORK REFERS TO THE FORMER USE
OF THE SITE AS A RAILWAY SIDINGS
