PUBLIC ART IN SHEFFIELD

Celia Kilner
Relief lettering, 1995
Steel City House
limestone - possibly Portland Stone

Location:
Steel City House, on the corner of West Street and Pinfold Street. (A-Z p4 2D)

Description:
Square or diamond shaped stone panels fixed above the entrance. The typeface of each letter is different.

Commission:
Dept. of Employment & Education. The piece was completed by 1994 but not installed until December 1995.

Comment:
The letters are possibly not cut deeply enough. They are difficult to read from street level as their lower edges do not cast a very visible shadow.
