Location:
Paradise Square, Sheffield S1 (A-Z p.5 2E)

Description:
Green sandstone tablet, 41 cm wide; 56 cm high. Above an inscription there is a shallow cut relief of a head, presumably that of Davis. The inscription reads:
"1778 1841
DAVID DANIEL DAVIS
PHYSICIAN
Lived in this house 1803-1812
Translated Pinel's Treatise on Insanity
Assisted at the birth of Queen Victoria"

Commission:
details not known

Comment:
The stone is the same as that used for the Wesley Memorial Plaque. Possibly the plaque was installed at about the same time (1951).
