'Fishboy on a Skateboard', 1998

Location:

At the Granville Square entrance to a footpath along the river Sheaf. (A-Z p.5 6G)

Description:
The blue resin-bodied fishboy has a steel tail and is mounted on a spiral of steel upon which a fish transmutate into a merman (?) as it is thrown by the fishboy from one hand to the other. The full height of the piece is 1.5 metres.

Commission:
'Paving the Way' with funding from the Single Regeneration Budget. Supported by BT in the Community, the European Development Fund and Destination Sheffield. The artists worked with children from Abbeydale Grange School.

Comment:
Officially opened by Lord and Lady Mayoress of Sheffield on 14th July 1998. Other pieces opened the same day were made by Gillian Brent, Mandy Burton
and Ross Gilbertson
