Millennium Canteen
Simone
ten Hompel - Soup Spoon and Dessert Spoon
Two spoons especially
designed for the Millennium Canteen, one bigger than the other, evolved
through research into almonds, twigs, artichoke leaves and the notion of
scooping with a fairly primitive implement.
In order to translate this information into a visual vehicle, it was important
for me to chose materials within the silver range that allowed me to convey
the hands-on, carved quality of the research.
For the bowl I used fine silver which allowed itself to be forged, and almost
carved. For the handle I used sterling silver tubing which allowed me to
stain the surface through heat, and therefore resemble wood-like qualities.
Sizes: 18 and 19 cm
