songs of robert the cutler
iii | plenty of rattle |
a cutting edge all right
to sharpen sight
some of us live
forever
hand to mouth
our every eye peeled
noses to grinding wheels
ears to the gradual ground
and when we hear the lie
of the land
dark in its voiceless vision
we beat it black and blue
and buff it too
till light breaks through
till the song rings true
here are my
knives and forks
take them
make them talk.
i: all talk | ii: the full ladle | iv: anvil music |
