Description: Carved brick entrance feature. The wall to either side of the entrance to Wicket Way has been made from carved and fired bricks. The images thus created on either side are not identical but both show trees growing with their roots planted in the ground and the coal measures below ground level. These images gradually disappears as they become further from the Gateposts at the entrance to Wicket Way.

Inscription: On the left wall: EDLINGTON PARKS.

Commission: Funded by Yorkshire Metropolitan Properties. Design work began in March 1991 and the work was installed by September of the same year. [1] Wicket Way gives access to an area now filled with housing, formerly occupied by the colliery.

Comment: The trees grow with their roots reaching into the coal, which was itself formed from trees in the Carboniferous Period. They also represent regeneration of the site.
