| 'The Lambton Worm' is a well-known local legend and song relating to a worm which young John Lambton threw into a well after an unsuccessful day's fishing. While he was away at the crusades the worm grew to an "aweful size" and terrorised the countryside until "brave Sir John" returned and killed it. | ||
