Location: By the lakeside footpath beneath a prominent hill on the north-west shore of the lake. Access by foot from the junction of Wilmington Drive and Lakeside Boulevard walking in a clockwise direction.
Description: A large duck, holding two small suitcases and with a baby duck strapped to its back. Four large suitcases are on the ground, two to each side. The bird faces the Lake.
Inscription: On the front of the pedestal: FLYING / SOUTH
Commission: The carving is quietly humorous and reminiscent of illustrations in children's literature.
