| Description: Essentially abstract form with a white human figure crouching in the lower half of the relief sculpture on exterior of the building. The figure reaches upwards holding on to part of the sculpture with its right hand, whilst reaching downwards to grasp something with its left. Commission: Arts Sub-Committee of Rotherham Corporation. The sculpture was commissioned to "enhance the beauty of Rothwel Grange" and was moreover "the first piece of modern sculpture on any Corporation property." Rothwel Grange, a purpose-built home for elderly residents, was designed and built by Architectural staff and the Welfare Committee of the Corporation. The official opening of the home was carried out on 25th November 1968 by the Mayor of Rotherham, Councillor T. Heath, J.P. Comment: The artist, Les Chorley, is described in the commemorative leaflet for the opening of the homes as "a Yorkshire man born in 1918".
