Location: 'Sandwich Thief' is sited on grass near the main entrance and 'Banana Bug' is located in an area with seating near the Oakwood Hall entrance used by hospital staff during their break periods.
Description: Both pieces are carved from a single piece of tree trunk. 'Sandwich Thief' shows a bird, with its wings outspread, sitting on a post and holding a half-eaten sandwich its claws. 'Banana Bug' is a half-peeled banana with a large beetle on its upper section.
Commission: When the new entrance to the hospital was built, a large horse chestnut had to be removed. These pieces are both carved from the wood of this tree.
