Description: Much dilapidated and graffiti covered sundial. Set on a square plinth, the sundial itself is on a large block of stone mounted on a small round column. The hands are both broken.

Inscriptions: Two faces of the sundial have inscriptions:
'Dum ipectas / fu-gio
RW / 1739 '
And
'Sic tranfit glo / ria mundi'

Commission: Samuel Walker was the brother of Joshua Walker for whom Clifton House was built in 1783. There were three Walker brothers; nail-makers and ironworkers from Mosbrough.

Comment: The sundial has been moved from two previous locations because of problems with vandalism.
