Vega Bermejo
'Cat' and 'Bird', 1988
Balm Green
gritstone

Location:
Placed in the pocket handkerchief garden of Balm Green, Barker's Pool, in early 1995. The sculptures are opposite Cole Brothers, and overlooked by David Wynne's "Horse and Rider". (A-Z p4 D4)

Description:
The cat and bird face each other across the lower part of the gardens.

Commission:
Scotia Works. Ceded to the City Council when the Leadmill closed. The original scheme was never finished and the pieces sat in a glazed courtyard until the opportunity to re-site them presented itself. Siting instigated by the City Council.

Comment:
The surface carving is simpler that Bermejo's later work in the city.
