Glen Howe Park
wood, beech

Location:
Top north corner of Glen Howe Park, near a footpath's entrance into the wood. (A-Z p72 north of 1A)

Description:
Two rows of tree stumps cemented in the ground. The rows meet at a common stump. Each piece of wood is about 2.4 metres high and has been carved at its top with a chainsaw. The tops have then been incised, again with a chainsaw, and one piece has been charred

Commission:
Recreation Dept., Sheffield City Council

Comment:
Despite the brutal nature of the carving process, chainsaw and fire, the work shows a surprising delicacy
