Description:
The scene of the annuciation is shown within a deeply carved and highly arched niche.

Comment:
A favourite resting place for pigeons.

About the artist:
Thomas Earp (active between 1860 and 1880) was also the sculptor for the Eleanor Cross erected outside Charing Cross Station, London, in 1865.
