General Cemetery, off Cemetery Road, S11 (AZ p.98 4/5C)

A mound of tables, surrounded by chairs, which have been lashed together high in a fork between two branches of a tree.

In 1992 Sheffield Contemporary Arts Trust organised an exhibition of work in the General Cemetery called ‘In Memoriam’. The exhibiton was supported by the Friends of the General Cemetery. This piece was erected with assistance from the local Mountaineering Club.

The piece was never removed after the exhibition closed. The chairs are table are presumably still in place although now completely hidden by foliage.
