PUBLIC ART IN SHEFFIELD

Neil Woodall
panels on top of arches, 1994
Castle Markets, Sheffield
printed images on metal panels

Location:
Above the various entrance to the markets, on Angel Street, Castle Street and Castle Garden. (A-Z p5 2F)

Description:
Each panel shows a building from Sheffield’s past, that was located in the area of the market.

Commission:
Sheffield City Council and the Market Traders.

Comment:
Woodall was originally commissioned to initiate a more comprehensive project, but the money was unfortunately spent in the design and manufacture of the archways over the entrance to the market area and the entrance to Angel Street from Fitzalan Square.
