Description:
A painted, black letters on white background, opticians chart covers the gable end at the end of Waingate near Lady’s Bridge.
[Update 2003] The paintwork is now in poor condition; it badly needs re-painting.
Commission:
Sheffield City Council.
Comment:
The chart covers several different adjoining gable ends to the building
and thus contrives to make a messy series of brick facades appear as a single
surface. One of the adjacent shops is that of an optician.
