Description: Above the windows of the ground floor are a number of carved portrait heads of Victorian men and women, including a young Queen Victoria. Also that of Henry Richardson, first Mayor of Barnsley, on the Eldon Street facade. These are from 45 cm high, 40 cm wide and 35 cm in depth. They cover the facades on both streets.
Above first floor level there is extensive floral decoration and lions heads and further less ornate carving above the second floor windows. A row of cherub heads appears below the balustrade at roof level.

Commission: The hotel was built for James Fox a local wine merchant.

Questions: We are trying to identify the various heads.
