Description: Stone carving of a baby lying on top of a square stone pedestal.
Inscription: The plaque on the pedestal: Sure Start / This building was officially opened / on the 6th June 2002 / by Jacqui Smith M.P. / Minister of State for Health
Commission: The piece was used to mark the opening of the building as the original planned sculpture had to be relocated for health and safety reasons. The artist had already worked elsewhere for Sure Start. "The baby sculpture was a piece (Dan Jones) had already made to celebrate the birth of his youngest child but it was thought it would be an appropriate piece to use." [1] The piece was installed at the beginning of June 2002.
Dimensions: 94 cm high x 51 cm wide x 51 cm deep
