The passage from edge to centre is punctuated by reminders of nearly every aspect of human life. Education, justice, health, leisure, industry and commerce are all glimpsed in the 22 minutes that the 31 bus takes to wind its way from the city centre to the terminus.

The work will be experienced as part of the journey and will generate different levels of response as people travel around their local area and encounter the work. In an urban environment overloaded with advertising and other messages, the 'art' may seem trivial or insubstantial, yet these interventions, which may not even be perceived as 'art', have the potential to spark off trains of thought that could, maybe just for a moment or two, allow a different view of familiar surroundings.
