Giusseppe Lund
Window grilles; staircase balustrades and railings, 1988
Ruskin Gallery
handwrought iron

Part of this work has been re-sited in the Winter Gardens

Location:
Windows on Norfolk Street entrance to Ruskin Gallery. Interior staircase railing and balustrade also by Lund.

Description:
Twisted, hammered and stretched metal rods of varying length and breadth.

Commission:
Sheffield City Council, grant-aided by the Craft Council.

Comment:
The individual window rods are an imaginative solution to the security requirements for the gallery. They also serve to attract attention to the nature of the building.
While the other pieces will be transferred to the new Millennium Galleries, Lund has insisted that his work is site -specific and that it would not be appropriate for it to be relocated.

Lund's other work can be seen on his own 'Metalgarden' web site at http://www.metalgarden.co.uk/.
